New Generation of dictionary
Introduction
ABBYY has launched a new service – Lingvo Live. It extends standard Lingvo Translator into a community of professionals and people who study languages. It comes as a place where people may have to discuss and help each other find the correct translations of phrases that cannot be found in Lingvo Dictionaries.

Task
At this project, I worked together with my partner and friend Alex Kotomanov, UX designer. Our goal was to create the 2.0 version of the website with a new structure and visual design to engage users in interacting more.

Working process
Our first steps were the organization the interviews with product team. The purpose was to find out basic users needs, current problems, and put it on one table with new feature.

The solution
We divided the platform into two parts: the dictionary and the community. The main page gets a feed with the most interesting entries, quotes, and translations from the users. The search tool is placed and fixed in the top place, and the sidebar shows recent questions from Community. "Translate" and "Ask translations" are the main tools which define the basis of the service.
Feed

The content is daily updated with featured articles: Word of the day, Story of the day, Picture of the day, Quote of the day and etc. All these sections link to the dictionary's articles
Smart seacrh
Search results is a dictionary entry. It is an aggregation based both on various dictionaries, and translations made by users of the Community.
Dictionary blocks

The purpose of the search result page was to make look and feel with paper-based style with white background and good typography.
Community
The community is the second main page after Dictionary. Here, people discuss the nuances of languages, trying to overcome the difficulties of translation.

Some users ask for translations, some users answer, all the process comes to discussion and communication. It helps the platform to grow the active community which will make a significant shift in the marketplace with experts in the nearest future.
Ask&Add

The users can discuss with each other how to translate
a phrase better or add their translation, and after it
can be added to the Dictionary.
