Museum of Russian
Railways
Introduction
Interactive museum of Russian Railways opens in September 2017. I have been working with the "Combine of Museum and Exhibition Art" company, which specializes in designing and the implementation of permanent museum expositions.

I was charged to develop interfaces for self-service kiosk stands, the primary role of which is telling the story one of the 72 trains in the museum.
Task
Is not a web, or app, is the part of the big space with massive machines, and it creates specific needs of visitors. The visitor needs to see the kiosk, understand its purpose, and want to use it from a distance. Big screens, 32 and 40 inches. How to find the right place for menus, buttons, etc., what kind of size button should be?

The solution
The main idea was divided big machine into core pieces: "What it made of?" and "How does it work?". Also, we put down the main menu, in order not to go the top of the huge screen every time with a right hand. For help visitor locates himself in the big space, we create the button "Where am I?" for showing museum map with visitors location.

In the "What it's made of" part we have put 3D model, with the ability to rotate and look up under the train or choose hotspots and get know what is about.

How does it work?
If you stand ahead massive old train, which was born for motion, you can ask yourself "How everything moves here?" At that point this page open animation with moving pistons and wheels, and the key characteristics of each train. In the future, each characteristic will have own animation in a modal window.
Basic information
Each exhibit has basic information, like a name, year, history, etc. We put two more pages with history as a digital article and old blueprints and scheme as a gallery.
